Independence

Independence:
2nd June 2010

There comes a time in every person’s life
When he/she chooses between peace and strife
Peace will not yield lucrative financial fruit
Strife will make you rich, and unhappy to boot.

Choose we must, now or later
Are we happy? Or do we deserve better?
Money-spinning? Or peaceful rest?
Or a balance of both? What is the best?

I seek to retire. I am tired and jaded.
Old and haggard, I am embedded
With disease of an ancient origin
Independence Fever. Or, the Original Corporate Sin.

The clutters of the shackles have long deafened
I have no spirit left. Hard to fend
Against the scheming hands of corporate bosses
Our life upturns, with their head-tosses.

There exists a place far from bicker
Where human politics is a far-off flicker
A virtual plane of unreal people
You can meet fast, and quicker uncouple.

I wish to go away to that virtual world
I am bruised and battered. Solitude is gold
Dug deep from the caverns of the World Wide Web.
Be on my own. And my pains will ebb.
